Wednesday Jones

As they say up here, I'm going back "Down South" (i.e. to Glasgow) tomorrow but I have a quick post about Wednesday Comics. I just read that DC has plans for a sequel and Steve Rude has pencilled a New Gods story.
However, here's my own purely imaginary, Wish List version of Wednesday Comics 2:

Viking Prince: more of a sword and sorcery angle than the original.

I, Vampire: and the Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love
Jonah Hex
Wonder Woman and the Boy Commandos: Nuff said?

Power of Shazam: Comedy sibling rivalry and Dr. Sivana.

Batman and Robin: Very Dick Sprang. Giant cash registers and pool tables. With Catwoman and the Joker
Smallville: Young Superman, Lois and Lex
Green Arrow: The shipwreck origin.
Zatanna: Gangsters and magic in Vegas. Witty and light-hearted.
Green Lantern Corps
Atomic Knights: Giant dalmatians!

Legionnaires Three

This time I wanted to have a thread in the strips that connected them so I chose the Bell, the Jar and the Wheel from the JLA's Demons Three stories. When raiders steal the three demonic items from an Irish Monastery, Prince Jon sets off on a quest that culminates in the Thirty-First Century, taking in the battlefields of World War Two, a desert island and a Las Vegas casino!

Of course, in 2009, I had hoped Marvel would respond with its own Daily Bugle. So, here are some suggestions for a line-up for the House of Ideas:


Woverine and the X-Men
Spectacular Spider-Man: a romantic soap opera plot. Villains: the Vulture and Kraven
The Incredible Hulk: TV series style with Banner as "Lonely Man"

Ultimate Avengers: since, effectively, that's what the movie looks like.
Fantastic Four: by Mike Allred or Erik Larsen

Daredevil: urban crime noir
Silver Surfer: a European-flavoured sci-fi epic

Dr. Strange: a creepy mystery, part Dark Shadows, part Lovecraft. Set in hippy San Francisco? Maybe guest-starring Spider-Woman?

Phantom Eagle: World War One thrills and tragedy.

Master of Kung Fu
Blade the Vampire Hunter: the teen vampire hunter, that is.
Devil Dinosaur!
